Welcome to Kaye's House LLC Child Care

“With All of the Comforts of Home”

The purpose of our center is to provide a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment for your child, and to encourage your child’s intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development. We’ve designed this parent handbook to contain important information and to answer your questions about the policies, approach to education, and the daily operation at Kaye's House LLC Child Care.

Security:

A safe and secure environment is of the utmost importance to us at Kaye's House LLC Child Care.

Kaye's House LLC does not permit smoking anywhere on the premises.

Parents are permitted to visit and observe anytime during operation, unless prohibited or restricted by a court order.

The release of children will be only to those authorized to pick up the child.

If a child is being picked up by someone who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol the caregiver at the childcare will voice their concern for the child’s safety, and attempt to have you call another contact person to pick up the parent and the child. If the parent continues to take the child home on their own, and if the childcare provider still believes the child is in danger the authorities may be called for the safety of the child.

Rules:

The rules at Kaye's House LLC are reasonable. The children should use quiet voices indoors. The parents and the children should treat the other children, parents and the caregivers with respect, kindness, and as they wish to be treated. The equipment at Kaye's House LLC should always be used as it is meant to be used, and should not be abused.   Always have FUN!!

Confidentiality:

All information provided by the child’s parent/guardian about their child/children and their family is held confidential.  All written information is kept in individual files, and will not be shared with anyone other than Shane and Kaye, the staff, a substitute provider, or the authorities if required by them.

Communication with Parents:

We have an “open door” policy at Kaye's House LLC for communication with all parents and guardians.  Please always feel comfortable to talk with us about any situation. We don’t want you to “wonder” about things that we do, we’d rather have you ask us.

We have a motto at Kaye's House LLC that is, “If you DON’T like something you see, please let us know, and if you DO like something you see, please tell everyone else.”

Insurance:

Kaye's House LLC carries general liability coverage for the home and Child Care.

Licensing:

Kaye's House LLC is a state licensed, family childcare center licensed to care for a maximum of 8 children. The licensing certificate and the latest monitoring visit for the childcare are posted just inside the front door. A summary of the licensing rules is in a copy of “Your guide to Licensed Child Care” and is available to all parents.

If we are not able to care for your child for a day:

You will not need to pay us for the days we would be unavailable to care for your child.

You MUST have a back up person to care for your child if we would happen to be ill, when we are closed for vacation time, or in case of an emergency.

Infants:

Infants (children under 1 year of age) will be kept on a flexible schedule which reflects the growing baby’s changing needs.  They will be given individual attention including lots of time for communication.

The body position of your infant and their location in our child care will be changed frequently.  “Tummy time” will be provided for exercising non-mobile infants.

SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome:

SIDS is the leading cause of death in babies after 1 month of age (National Institute of Child Health and Human Development).

Back sleeping is the safest sleep position for your baby and provides the best protection against SIDS.

We have taken SIDS training, and those who serve as substitutes or back up providers have been oriented on these procedures as well.

At the time of starting your infant we will talk about SIDS.

While your infant is in our care he/she will be placed on his/her back to sleep, unless there is a Doctor’s written statement advising us otherwise or unless the infant is able to roll over by it’s self.  Your baby will always be checked on often while sleeping.

Kaye's House LLC will provide a safe crib or playpen with a firm, snug fitting mattress. Infants will not be allowed to have any pillows, quilts, comforters, stuffed toys or any other soft items while in the crib or playpen.

If a blanket is used, the infant will be placed at the foot of the crib with a thin blanket tucked around the crib mattress, reaching only as far as the infant’s chest. Your baby’s head and face will stay uncovered during sleep by randomly checking on the infant. To prevent SIDS it’s best to not smoke before or after the birth of your baby, and don’t let your baby overheat while they are sleeping.

IN THE CASE OF SIDS WHILE THE INFANT IS IN OUR CARE:

  1. WE WILL CALL 911 FIRST
  2. WE WILL CALL THE PARENTS
  3. WE WILL NOT TOUCH THE SIDS AREA.
  4. WE WILL MOVE THE OTHER CHILDREN TO A DIFFERENT AREA AND ARRANGE FOR SOMEONE TO HELP WITH THE CARE OF THE OTHER CHILDREN.

We encourage everyone to work together to make sure all caregivers to your child know to place babies on their backs to sleep.  Please tell your baby’s grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, babysitters, and anyone who cares for your baby about the safe practices for infants.

Toddlers:

Children between the ages of 1 and 2 yrs of age will be given the opportunity to stay on a flexible schedule while experiencing the flannel board, stories, songs, art activities and the self help, large and small muscle, and language development skills they are learning.

Activities and Daily Schedule:

During the day with us, your child will usually have many things to do, such as games, art activities, play time, stories read to them, time to use their own creativeness, outside activities all year long, and quiet time.

Activities are planned to provide experiences in which each child can be successful and feel good about themselves.  Children learn by experiencing the world around them. We provide a safe environment in which they will learn about a variety of cultural awareness and imaginative play.  We will help your child/children to develop a wonderful positive self-image through activities that are age-appropriate for their development. The children will be encouraged but not forced to participate in the activities.  The children will be allowed to make choices, as Kaye's House LLC Child Care is child-centered.  Daily activities will help your child develop hand/eye coordination, language, and the use of large and small muscles.  We will have indoor and outdoor play experiences, active and quiet activities, individual and group activities which will balance their day.  We will protect your child from excess fatigue and over stimulation.

We always try to have lots of fun, and getting messy is a natural part of children learning and playing, so please keep this in mind and dress your child/children in comfortable clothing so they can move freely while they enjoy painting and playing in the sand and grass without feeling like they have to be kept clean.

Your child/children will have an opportunity to use a variety of educational materials, including puzzles, art materials, housekeeping equipment, reading materials, imaginative play, and group play and activities to do with their friends at Kaye's House LLC Child Care.

Food program:

We will provide lunch and snacks for your child/children if they are in our care for those times. The lunches and snacks will be prepared on the premises, and all food served will meet the nutritional USDA state licensing requirements.
